AI & Philanthropy — Asia-Pacific

Invited for the Asia-Pacific Meeting on Artificial Intelligence and Philanthropy, co-hosted by Swissnex in India, Consulate General of Switzerland, Bengaluru and the Centre en philanthropie (GCP)-UNIGE. The meeting brought together stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region to explore how AI can be harnessed for social good through philanthropic investment.

The agenda included Panel 1 on AI and Philanthropy, Panel 2 on Ethical and Inclusive AI Empowered by Philanthropy, and a workshop on "READYFORAI: Fast, Effective, Low-Risk Adoption of AI in Philanthropy." A key highlight was the keynote on how institutions can nurture local research ecosystems and strengthen policy frameworks around AI safety and bias.

The meeting underscored the unique opportunity for philanthropic organisations to support AI governance infrastructure in regions that lack regulatory capacity. Strategic philanthropic investment in AI literacy programmes, independent research, and multistakeholder governance initiatives can help ensure that AI development benefits all segments of society.
